Action Takes Boldness

Filed under: Living the Dream, Article Archives, Blogroll — Dr. Cara Alana @

You want to do something that speaks to you. Intuition does help but sometimes you just can’t hear the voice that tells you exactly what you are here on earth to do. You need a change but don’t know where to begin.

Start with looking deep within yourself. Explore what REALLY brings happiness.

Try this. Ask yourself the following questions:

Do you LOVE your life?

Do you even LIKE your life?

What do you enjoy doing at work?

What do you enjoy doing in your leisure?

Why do I enjoy the following activities/aspects of my work/leisure life?

Honing in on the reasons behind what you enjoy is powerful. It tells you what you are truly passionate about.

Meri was feeling like she was in rut. She was not happy with her finance job and desperately wanted to look for a new one. Even though money was tight, she was considering quitting her current job before she even found a new job.

When I first met her, Meri described herself as feeling stuck. By asking herself the above questions, she was able to see that she had options. That gave her power. She realized that she did not need a TOTAL change, but that she was actually interested in dealing with people rather than numbers.

It was a beautiful moment when she realized that she could explore opportunities within the marketing department of her current company. She took action and was able to find renewal. There was no BIG change required.

Sometimes all it takes to bring a twinkle back to your eyes is to make a shift.

Action is a word that many of us are scared of. It means making a plan for change and actually implementing it. It takes bravery.

“Never confuse motion with action.” Benjamin Franklin and Ralph Emerson said so.

Do you feel stuck and powerless? You know you need a change and yet you don’t take action. Instead, you wait for change to happen by wishful thinking.

Before Meri decided to make a shift from finance to marketing, she took a passive approach. She told herself that good things were bound to happen all on their own. She put the intention out there to be happier in her job but nothing happened. Her feelings of helplessness started to spill out as she complained about her job to friends and family. She was in a definite downward spiral. This is what motion looks like as Meri showed signs of movement (setting her intention, wishing for change), just not the forward movements that lead to transformation and change (action).

She eventually found fulfillment by taking the action steps of finding a coach, looking honestly within, making a plan and boldly taking action.

So if you feel stuck, YOU are the only one who can change your situation. Make a plan and walk confidently towards your goals. The small baby steps will turn into big steps and soon you’ll be running.

To Your Fulfillment,

Cara

I made the smallest change since reading this article. I went ahead and asked to work just one day a week at home instead of at the office. To my surprise, the boss said yes! I literally come home now every day and have the biggest smile. This small change has made such a large difference.

I have always wanted to have less money than stick up to my boss. This term action has got me finally thinking. What am I so scared of? I want to get promoted. I know that I am capable. If I give my best, I expect to be noticed. Thank you for waking me up.

Now everyone is talking about the American economy and eclections, nice to read something different. Eugene

Why is it so hard to be bold and take action? I have been wanting to move on with my life forever and I know that I want to but am so afraid of what will happen to me. You made me realize that my wishful thinking is getting me nowhere and only I can get myself out of the mess that I am in. Thanks.
